Evolution of Flight

Project Objective:
The objective of this project was to explore the history and evolution of aerospace technology by researching key innovations that shaped flight as we know it today. Working in a team of two, we were each assigned a topic that contributed to the progression of flight, from early powered aircraft to advanced space exploration. Our goal was to research, create, and present a documentary-style Google Slides presentation to the class.
Design/Project Process:
Our process started with brainstorming major events and milestones in aerospace. Once my partner and I received our assigned innovation, we began gathering information from credible sources, making sure to answer the guiding questions provided in the template. We used visuals, bullet points, and key data to support our research. Then, we developed a cohesive theme for our presentation, finalized the slides, and rehearsed timing to stay within the 3–6 minute limit. We submitted both the Google Slides link and the PDF version by the deadline.
What I Learned:
I learned a lot about how the development of flight didn’t just happen all at once—it was a long process built on small discoveries and bold experiments. My research helped me understand how engineering, science, and innovation all connect over time to make breakthroughs possible. I also saw how flight advancements are often driven by world events like war or space races, which pushed people to solve problems faster and more creatively.
Personal Reflection:
In my opinion, this project helped me gain a better appreciation for how far aerospace has come and how each invention has built on the last. I liked being able to work with a partner and focus on just one topic in detail instead of trying to do everything. It also showed me how important communication and teamwork are when you're trying to combine research and design into something that’s clear and engaging. I wish we had more time to explore even more of the topics, but I think our team did a good job highlighting the most important points and keeping the presentation interesting.
